0 Waiting on Sync License for Wedding Song

I’ve been in contact with the licensing agency and waiting to hear back what steps I need to take to secure a sync license so I can upload a video of my performance from Beau’s wedding last weekend. I don’t want to have any copyright issues so I’m making sure I dot my i’s and cross my t’s. Apparently you can’t legally record yourself performing a cover song at a wedding and then share the video with other people. Hopefully I will get this resolved soon so I can share the video of me singing “Till There Was You” at Beau & Debbie’s wedding in Calabasas, California last Saturday, June 22, 2013.

0 Beau LeBlanc & Debbie Lin’s Wedding

Calabasas, CA

I was asked by the bride and groom to sing a special song at their wedding ceremony. The song they selected to sing of their love is none other than “Till There Was You” from the Music Man and popularized by The Beatles. We’ve been enjoying the beautiful weather down in Redondo Beach for a few days but will be traveling to Calabasas for the ceremony tomorrow.

We are so happy for you both and so glad that we could come and be a part of your celebration of your new life together!

You can now watch a video of me performing the song at the wedding here: Till There Was You (Live at the LeBlanc Wedding)

0 Beau LeBlanc & Debbie Lin’s Rehearsal

Manhattan Beach, CA

This was a surprise to them so I didn’t post about it before but my aunt Cathy had requested that I share a special surprise song for their rehearsal dinner tonight. So unbeknownst to the bride and groom I prepared a special version of “Forever Young” made famous by Rod Stewart. I’ll try to post some photos later as I don’t have a sync license to upload any video. The rehearsal was held outside at Polliwog Park in Manhattan Beach just up the road from where they live in Redondo Beach. Wish we could stay and enjoy the beautiful weather a few more days!

0 A Kingdom That Cannot Be Shaken

In light of all the earthquakes, tornadoes, floods, wars, political scandals & darkness in this world I am so thankful we have inheritance in a kingdom that cannot be shaken!

Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe
—Hebrews 12:28

We need to look to God when our lives are shaken. It is he who holds things together and we should rely on him as our firm bedrock, our strong foundation.

When the earth and all its people quake, it is I who hold its pillars firm. —Psalm 75:3

When those trials and difficulties come where do we find our strength? Who do we look to in those times of tragedy that seek to sweep us away and overwhelm us?

When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?” —Psalm 11:3

When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand firm forever. —Proverbs 10:25

Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken. —Psalm 62:1, 2

We need to not build on the things of this world as our foundation because they will fail and leave us broken on shifting sand. Instead we should build on the firm foundation, Jesus, our Rock and refuge.

My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge. —Psalm 62:7, 8

Lord, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in time of distress. He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure. —Isaiah 33:2, 6

We are all familiar with the story of the man who built his house upon the sand and when the rains came he had no firm foundation and was washed away. We should learn the lesson of the wise man from this parable who built on the unshakeable bedrock of Christ. When the storms of life came and threatened to wipe him out he was able to stand firm.

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. —Matthew 7:24, 25
