You and I, many years have passed by
Water ‘neath the bridge of knowing each other
Mountains we’ve climbed, tears we’ve denied
We were once closer than brothers
Still I find myself at a loss for words
What approach to take?
How should I broach this subject anyway?
‘Cause it’s something I’ve got
But it’s something you need
Something you’ve been dying without
‘Cause it’s something you need
And it’s something I’ve got to figure out
How to tell you
More than a gulf of years
This vast ocean that’s sprung up between us
A silence that keeps me tongue-tied, unable to begin
Though I must, for I care too much
To quibble over what may offend you
So you’ll bear with me I trust
As I struggle to find a way
What approach to take now?
Well, should I broach this subject anyway?
‘Cause it’s something I’ve got
But it’s something you need
Something you’ve been dying without
‘Cause it’s something you need
And it’s something I’ve got to figure out
How to tell you
I’ve got to tell you
Got to tell you the truth...
So I’ll jump in with both feet
Tell you how Jesus came and died upon a tree
‘Cause he’s someone I know
And he’s someone you need
Someone you’ve been dying without
‘Cause he’s someone you need
And he’s someone you’ve got to get to know
So tell him today
Tell him today that you need him...
