Here is another "revived" hymn for my hymns project "Hymnody" that we are hoping to get completed later in 2012. This song will be joined by my versions of "Turn Your Eyes", "When I Survey The Wondrous Cross", "Where Shall My Wondering Soul Begin" and others. This is another one of Charles Wesley's from 1739, "And Can It Be That I Should Gain".

Got down to Grants Pass late last night and then spent 6 hours in the studio today with Nick working on cleaning up the final mix for the new single, "Stop The Sun"!

Just finished laying down the vocal track for "White" which is the title track for the new CD. That is my last part for the album, so now it is just all up to Nick to finish the remaining tracking and mixing.

Day 3 in the studio this week and I'm playing the role of recording engineer while Nick is laying down some sweet mandolin parts. Can't wait for you all to hear it!

Nick and I have been sequestered in the studio the last few days making good progress on finishing songs for the new CD, "The White Album". As a humorous aside, the studio space has now moved to a location off Sleepy Hollow Road which is definitely odd timing considering it's Halloween in a few days.

"Turn Your Eyes" is a remake of "Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus," with its own little flare. This song will be featured on two of his upcoming albums, Hymnody and The White Album... this song I have actually grown to really like. He sounds like a newer version of Steven Curtis Chapman...

This is a new communion song that I just wrote last week that comes mostly straight from 1 Corinthians 11:23-34. It reminds us of why we take communion together as the body of Christ, to remember his sacrifice for us, the breaking of his body and shedding of his blood. Let us do this often in remembrance of him!

This is a new lullaby that I wrote recently that will be featured on the upcoming CD we are finishing in the studio. We will also be releasing this song as a single within the next few weeks so stay tuned for news!

Here is a new upbeat worship song I wrote this past month calling us to put the name of Jesus above all others. The woman's echo part in the chorus is sung by my wife, Jessica who was also running the video camera.

Nick and I spent a long full day sweltering in the 98 heat in the non-airconditioned studio today, but it was totally worth it!

Nick and I finally managed to sync up our schedules so we could spend some time in the studio today. We worked on two final new songs for "The White Album" and did some comping for one of the tunes.

Here's another new love song I just wrote for my wife recently to commemorate our first 1000 days of marriage together. We were laughing because I keep asking her about things we did together or places we had been that we haven't been to yet. It seems we have always been together and my memories seem to keep re-writing themselves and putting her in memories we haven't shared yet!

Happy Easter, everyone! Here is a song I started writing back in September of 2010 but just recently got around to finishing. So, here is my song about remembering Jesus is in control and if he can calm the wind and waves he can handle any difficulties we might be going through.

Here is the most recent song that I shared at Athey Creek Christian Fellowship this weekend at the Saturday night service and again at both services Sunday morning.

I decided to start a new video playlist filled with some of my original worship songs. This is one of the first I am posting. This is one of my newer original worship songs written based on parts of both Psalm 26 & 27. This song will be featured on the upcoming worship album "Adoration" along with several others.

So... this is perhaps a slightly off-kilter late night rambling about life, love, hope, faith and salvation. It may land a bit far of the bizarre line for some, but perhaps others will dig deeper and hear the truth and heart where it was coming from.

Today is our 2nd Anniversary and I have posted an acoustic mix of the song I wrote for my wife for all to enjoy. The new song is called "Wherever With You" and a full-band version will be featured on the new CD we are wrapping up currently in the studio The White Album.

Sorry things have been crazy with Christmas and New Years. Just a quick update to let you know that we recorded the last 2 songs for the newest CD project over Christmas, so hopefully we will be able to get it released soon. Nick is swamped working on several other projects at the same time and busy with trips to LA, but hopefully we can wrap up production soon. I'll let everyone know when we have a firmer idea of a release date. The good news is that we've ended up getting a few more tracks together for this CD so it's going to be a full-length release instead of the originaly planned EP!

So we have been continuing to work on several CD projects in the studio during the past year, but I have not had the funding to be able to finish producing any of them or release them. We were praying about if we should even continue working on some of the music without funding when I received a call from Hello Music.

I recently got signed up on Jango Radio which allows users to create multiple free personalized "radio stations" by selecting their favorite artists. In between their favorite artists Jango will introduce new emerging artists who have similar music.

We are working in the studio on some new music and hope to have some firmer release dates soon. In the meantime here is a preview mix of one of the new singles to tide you over.

The follow up album to Dawson Cowals' reflective Coffee Shop Songs is a deliberate departure both musically and lyrically. Looking Up At The Same Star is still heavily Christian and co-produced by the same dynamic duo, Cowals and Nick Garrett-Powell, but a significant life altering event has occurred in Cowals' life between these two albums: the singer/songwriter has gotten married...

So for those of you who didn't know, I grew up in Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii. We've been listening to a lot of Hawaiian music recently, so I was inspired to write my first Hawaiian song.

Okay, so after deliberation and seeing how long we are taking on completing the full-length worship project, "Adoration", we are going to try and release a slightly longer version of the "hymns ep" and turn it into a full-length hymn/worship album called "Hymnody".

Here is another brand new song that will be going on the upcoming hymns project. This is my rendition of "Come Thou Fount" with an original new chorus and bridge added. Enjoy! :)

After the few songs we played, Nick & Tanner kept us entertained with some amazing jams. Here is the first!

This is the third song we played together as a trio, and it was also a new song for my family who had not heard it yet. This song simply tells the truth of how no matter how hard we try we can't erase the guilt and stains our actions leave in our lives. Only the blood of Jesus can wash us clean.

Here's Nick asking Tanner to play a little ditty to prove to the person on the phone that Nick is jamming with a violin virtuoso.

This is the second song we performed in out little impromptu concert for the evening. This is a song about friendship and wishing we could rewind time to go back and be there for our friends when they needed us and we weren't available.

My friend Tanner Johnson came down to Southern Oregon to record his amazing violin talents on some songs we were working on in the studio, and this impromptu concert is what happened later in the evening after a full day in the studio.

Just got back from an epic 2-day journey down to the studio with Tanner Johnson to get his amazing violin skills recorded before he flies out to Boston in a few days!

Okay, wrapped up guitar and vocals for several new songs in the studio with my amazingly talented good friend, producer, recording engineer and musician extraordinaire, Nick Garrett-Powell!
