I grew up listening to and enjoying Bryan Duncan’s music all through high school and college. He was one of my many musical inspirations and I’m sure influenced some of my songwriting over the years. Recently we’ve been exchanging some tweets and emails and talking about getting together. We discovered that he had previously met and filmed my good friend Nick Garrett-Powell at a performance they were both playing at. My hope was that we could work something out so that we could maybe do a collaboration on a song sometime.

0 New Lyric Video for “In Their Place”

I finally finished a new lyric video in time for Easter for my song “In Their Place” off my 2008 Coffee Shop Songs CD. This song tells the Easter story from Jesus’ point of view starting with him kneeling and praying in the garden, to the Cross, resurrection and empty tomb. It shows Jesus’ cry to the Father to “take me in their place.”

0 Hello from Golconda Fort in Hyderabad, India

So we’ve been in Hyderabad, India for 7 days so far on a business trip and will be heading home to the US on Sunday the 23rd. Today we visited the amazing Golconda Fort (also known as Golkonda). Here’s a short little video I shot from the 400 foot top of the massive fort after climbing the more than 1,000 steps to get to the top. The music playing in the background is a sneak peek at an early mix of the next single, “Peace.”

0 “Shades of Grace” in Top 50 HOPE 107.9 FM Contest
So I just found out today that my song Shades of Grace was selected in the Top 50 for the HOPE 107.9 Songwriter Contest this year! They are having voting from now until Monday the 13th so there is a short amount of time for folks to vote for their 5 favorites. I hope that mine is one of them.
They don’t list the artist name along with the song but you can find it by song title (it was on page 4 I think when I looked) or the direct link below. We will find out next week which songs made the Top 12 cut. Thanks!
