If Brandon Heath and Gary Sinise joined forces to create a military tribute song—this would be it. This song is an encouragement and thank you to all of our armed services that we are grateful for their service.

This is a tribute song I wrote for our troops who serve and sacrifice so that we can enjoy the freedoms of this country. Once again the amazing Nick Garrett-Powell recorded and produced this track as well as playing bass, electric guitar and singing harmonies. After more than 11 years I was able to join forces with the fantastic Jim Sitter on drums! Jim helped produce and play on many of my earlier recordings, the last being “Don’t Look Back”, and I was excited to be able to work with him again on this song.

We are planning on releasing an entire CD filled with similar tribute music, but this song will be featured early on my next full-length CD, “White.” This song is dedicated to my grandfather, Wayne Ray, who was with the 139th in WWII and my cousin, John Ray, who recently served in the Navy. Thank you to all of our armed services personnel! “I know it’s not much, but this is all I have to say… THANK YOU!”

Lyrics

Thank You

I hope these words might reach you today
Wherever you are before it’s too late to say
For I am grateful; words alone cannot convey
The depth of my gratitude to a stranger miles away

I know it’s not much compared with what you’ve done
I wish I had more to offer than just this song
But my words are few…

Thank you For all that you have given
Selfless sacrifice,
Paid the ultimate price
The life you set aside for mine

I can’t begin to pretend to know what it’s like
Not having walked in your shoes or stood a sentry line
To your deepest longing for your loved ones out of sight
Know that you’re not alone, you’re in our prayers tonight

Though it might not seem enough
For those who’ve been left behind I know
My prayers are lifted up
God comfort them and heal their broken hearts, oh-oh
Grant them peace in time

I know it’s not much
But this is all I have to say
Thank you

0 Turn Your Eyes (Official Music Video)

This is the Official Music Video” for my “revived” version of the classic hymn, “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus.” I altered the melody and chorus and added a bridge; while keeping the lyrics in the verses the same. I am joined on this song by the musical talents of Nick Garrett-Powell who recorded and produced the track as well as singing the amazing harmony parts. On drums with the smooth brush work is the fantastic G.T. Albright and on stand-up bass is John Lingafelter rounding out the little jazz quartet.

0 New Single “Stop the Sun”

Stop the Sun

Release Date: December 20, 2011

If “You And Me” by Lifehouse collided with a Howie Day song you would get my rocking new love song single.

The new single, “Stop the Sun”, is now available on iTunes, Amazon and CD Baby!

Once again I’ve teamed up with my good friend and producer/musician extraordinaire, Nick Garrett-Powell, to deliver a new anthemic love song. “Stop the Sun” is the new single from the highly anticipated CD, “White”, due out Fall of 2012. I wrote this song shortly before Christmas 2009 as a 1st Anniversary present for my wife, Jessica.

For it seems just a glance over my shoulder when we met
But somehow a year’s flown by since the day when we were wed
Oh we’ve laughed and we’ve cried
Seen both struggles, blessings alike
I thank God for you my wife

We originally recorded the song on December 23rd and Nick added some synthesized drums and other parts to get the song ready in a single day to be given as a surprise to her on Christmas Eve, 2009. Since that time live drums, harmonies and other tracks have been added to arrive at the single you hear now.

This song speaks of wishing to be able to hold onto the special moments we have that seem fleeting. The lyrics express the wish that we could freeze time or somehow learn to “stop the sun”, like Joshua prayed and asked God to do for the Israelites.

The days have come and they have gone
Wish I’d faith like Joshua to stop the sun
A moment frozen in time
Where I could be yours and you’d be mine

This song will be featured on the upcoming full-length release, “White”, but you can enjoy it now as a preview single! Fans of Lifehouse, OneRepublic and The Script should especially enjoy this rock-inspired love ballad.

Lyrics

Stop the Sun

The days have come and they have gone
Wish I’d faith like Joshua to stop the sun
A moment frozen in time
Where I could be yours and you’d be mine

Life’s merry-go-round spins us past
Wish I could make these all too brief moments last
Turn a blink into nine
Where we’d be just one heartbeat entwined

If I had my wish time would be undone
So I could hold you forever now my love
One moment burning bright
If only my love could learn
To stop the sun

I try to show how much I cherish you in song
Though some days work takes me away from you too long
So I hope that these words
Will ring in your ears till I am home

For it seems just a glance over my shoulder when we met
But somehow a year’s flown by since the day when we were wed
Oh we’ve laughed and we’ve cried
Seen both struggles, blessings alike
I thank God for you my wife
